Newdigate Veterinary Surgery - About Us

At Newdigate Veterinary Surgery we pride ourselves in offering a friendly, local service more reminiscent of a time when service meant time to talk and understand a clients needs. So from routine vaccinations to major surgery we are here to provide your pets with the expert friendly care they deserve in a quiet rural environment so your pet remains relaxed and happy to visit us at any time.

We offer a 1st opinion service for most companion animal species – so all are welcome and our consultation times are arranged so that plenty of time is allowed for a full examination and discussion of your pet's situation.

If further investigation is necessary our well equipped operating theatre enables us to undertake most standard procedures or should we feel more specialist referral is required we will, in consultation with you, arrange for your pet to be seen by one of several specialist referral veterinary surgeons we have contact with. In this event we will manage this referral to ensure you receive continuity of care throughout.

Our mission is to help give your pet the best support and care available. We believe that by following correct dietary or exercise advice, undertaking preventive treatments or working to improve your pet's basic health we can, together, help reduce the cost of veterinary care when a problem arises.

Our doors are open not only when your pets are unwell, but also when you need help, advice or even a bit of reassurance if you are unsure what to do.

Our staff are pleased to answer any of your questions, we all understand that your pets are important family members and enjoy meeting and spending time with you. Our aim is to give exceptional care and attention to your animals and we work to the highest standards possible giving a friendly, professional and cost-effective service to our patients and their owners, not only at times of critical illness or emergency, but also when you need to think about proactive preventative care if your pet is perhaps overweight, becoming stiff as old age approaches or just "out of sorts".

Nurse Clinics are held regularly by arrangement covering all topics from puppy/kitten/rabbit care and early training, feeding for health and maximum activity, to caring for the ageing pet. Our nurses can also conduct post operative checks, remove stitches or undertake claw clipping. Also we can apply your flea product, administer worming treatments and assist you with administering any medication we have prescribed.

Older pets deserve to live in a pain free and happy environment - we often forget that as our animals grow older they suffer similar aches, pains and illnesses associated with ageing in humans - for most dogs or cats this can become a major "quality of life" issue from the age of eight or nine years and these days can easily be controlled by dietary changes or low level medical intervention.

Obesity is becoming a major problem for both humans and our pets! Our Weight Watcher advisory service offers advice on the best diet for weight control and includes free individual weight targeting and regular monitoring, plus of course plenty of encouragement and support so your pet can benefit from a correct feeding regime.

Modern pet foods, longer life spans and lack of supplementary foods (such as raw meat bones for dogs) has led to some problems with animal teeth health. Regular dentistry checks are now considered important for all pets, teeth and gum health being one of the faster growing veterinary problems encountered. We offer free dental health check services and can advise on the best methods of dental care including specific dietary changes and chews or full dental procedures to retain healthy mouths and sweeter breath.
